The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted much of the world’s population. In this paper, we focus particularly on how it has affected healthcare workers and front-line staff in Malta. The questionnaire conducted examined issues that impacted them both directly and indirectly, such as stress levels, workload, and psychological well-being.
While there is evidence that healthcare workers faced significant psychological challenges during the pandemic, healthcare professionals in Malta still often hesitate to seek help. Reasons include a lack of resources, insufficient education, and fear of stigma.
This research suggests that moving forward during these challenging times requires increased support from government entities, along with enhanced education and awareness regarding mental health and available support systems.
